Charles ‘Charlie’ E. Bennett, Sr., 88 of Morgantown, went on to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 13, 2020. Charles spent his final days at home with his family. The son of the late Benjamin and Lillian Hooten Bennett, he was born November 16, 1931, in Smokeless, WV.

Charles was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) Local 1058. He prided himself in hard-work with over 30 years of working in the mines. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and spending time with his family.

Charles is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia G. Bennett; two daughters, JoAn Sinclair and Debbie Hayhurst; two sons, Charles E. Bennett, Jr., and his wife, Judy, and Christopher Bennett and his wife, Crystal; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; a brother, Alton Bennett; and his four-legged best friend ‘Pete’.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Wilma O’Neal, Geneva Johnson, and an infant sister, Margarete Bennett; three brothers: Dallas Bennett, Norman Bennett, and Frank Bennett; two sons-in-law, John Sinclair and Robert Hayhurst.

To help mitigate risk during this time, the family has chosen to hold all services privately.
