The remains of Mrs. Lydia B. Bean were brought in from Wichita county this morning, where she died on Saturday afternoon, and were attended by her husband, Mr. David C. Bean. The funeral services were conducted at two o'clock this afternoon at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Robert A. Mayo, four miles northwest of Salina. The interment took place in the Shiloh cemetery.
Mrs. Bean was a native of Randolph county, Illinois. She was the mother of ten children, seven of whom survive her. Three of them are residents of this county, namely Messrs. William H. and Curtis Bean and Mrs. Margaret (R. A.) Mayo.
The family came to Saline county in 1877 and lived in "the Bean neighborhood" until a few years ago they moved to their present home in Wichita county. Mrs. Bean was a genial and kind neighbor, a loving and faithful wife, a tender and watchful mother. Some five months ago she came to Salina, hoping to get relief from what developed to be cancer of the stomach. As the disease developed it was evident that nothing could avail for her restoration to health; so she returned home to die. In compliance with her request, her remains were brought to the old neighborhood, and laid to rest along side of her daughter, who was buried a few years ago.
Mrs. Bean, at the time of her death, was a member of the Presbyterian church near her home, whither she was dismissed by certificate from the First Presbyterian church of this city, of which for years she was an honored member.
