Born the 10th of 12 children of Jacob Wimmer, Jr. and Jemima Laboyteaux in Westmoreland County, PA. Also lived in Hamilton County, OH; and Henry County, Franklin County and Grant County, Indiana.

Married Catherine Eliza Rose in Hamilton County. Ohio on June 13, 1824. She is also buried here at Park Cemetery.

They had 12 children together while living in Liberty Township, Henry County, Indiana from 1825 to 1857.
