Johnnie Lou King Smith of Wilmington, NC was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 30, 2020. She was born April 22, 1950 to John King, Sr. and Louise Yandle King.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her precious sons; Bryan Keith Smith and Marion Smith III, and her sister Nancy K. Logan.

Lou was a devoted and loving mother and doting Nana to seven beautiful grandchildren, which many times said she couldn’t love them enough, they were her rays of sunshine. Lou was a friend to all who met her, showing compassion and care for many. Lou maintained an unconditional love for all. Lou was a strong woman whose depth of character and love for the Lord nurtured her family. She was a considerate woman, one of her greatest gifts being her abiding faith in human kind. She measured life not by the cards she was dealt but by how well she played the hand.

She was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church, former member of Scotch Bonnett American Business Women’s Association, Southport Jr. Women’s Club, active in Dixie Youth, Justice for Citizens, victims advocate, North Carolina Victims Association, Parents of Murdered Children, and served in the Casillas Ministry.

She is survived by her loving daughter Heather Recko and husband Marc, sisters: Charlotte Teachey and Judy Bradshaw; grandchildren: Matthew Rhyan, Sarah, Seth and Jonah Recko, Harper, Holt and Cameron Smith; sister-in-law, Brenda King and many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2PM on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Sam Hill officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
