A 1929 graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, she was a designer for Coro Jewelry, an art teacher in Central Falls and at The Friends School in Moorestown, New Jersey. After raising her children, she returned to a career as an occupational therapist for the Veterans Administration. As a studio artist, she painted exquisite still-lifes.
Along with her late husband, Erling W.H. Helgesen, she traveled the world. Jeannette was an avid reader and a lover of nature, particularly wild flowers and birds. She was elegant, erudite, witty and quite beautiful.
Jeannette is survived by son, Peter E. Helgesen and his wife, Anne of Pinehurst, NC, daughter, Juliana Colleran and her husband, William with whom she lived in Bristol, son, Paul E. Helgesen and his wife, Jane of Fairhaven, MA, and daughter M. Kristina Arcuri and her husband, Alan of Absecon Shores, NJ. In addition, she is survived by eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Elizabeth Whitman, James W. Hindley, Charles Hindley and Beatrice Knowles.
She is sorely missed by her family, friends and very special North Farm neighbors.
