Dorothy Evelyn Stuebe, 96, of Mattoon passed away on September 1, 2020. Dorothy was born in Ogden, IL on July 7, 1924 the daughter of Charles and Emma Earle. On January 9, 1944 she married the love of her life William Stuebe and they spent 58 wonderful years together before Williams passing in August of 2002.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Susan (Lance) Beever, Jean (Sterling) Lacy; brother, Joseph Earle; grandchildren Carrie (David) Schultheis, Amy (Danny) Dewrock, Shelly (Renee) Mangrum, Mathew (Amber) Beever, David (Candice) Beever, David Lacy, Steve Lacy along with 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emma Earle; husband, William Stuebe; son, Stephen (Luanne) Stuebe; daughter, Patty Stuebe; grandson, Tim Lacy and siblings, Florence, Mary, Kate, Mae, Ray, Paul, John and Dave.

Dorothy graduated from Danville High School in 1942. She was a charter member of the Southside Church of the Nazarene where she was the church pianist for over 30 years. Dorothy was very active in the church and enjoyed teaching Sunday school. Dorothy liked to crochet. She loved to spend time with all her family. One favorite treat she baked for family was her Christmas tree cookies.

A Celebration of Dorothy’s life will take place at 2pm on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 with Raymie Gordon officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1pm to 2pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
