Later descendants reside in Scotland, Canada, in a number of mainland USA states including Alaska, and other countries including Australia, New Zealand, and Nepal. Initially descendants were involved in shipfitting in Scotland, homemaking, farming in Canada and Minnesota and coal mining in Oklahoma. Occupations of later descendants include railroaders, bankers, lawyers, business managers, teachers, state justices, store owners, coal miners, and musicians to name a few.
