Patricia Margaret "Pat" Heywood Chiu
1943 - 2020

Early Life: Patricia "Pat" was born January 2, 1943, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, the firstborn daughter David and Margaret Taylor Heywood. She grew up in Bountiful and Salt Lake City. At West High School, she was interested in drama, debate, science, and history. She was designated a Merit Finalist and attended the University of Utah and Brigham Young University.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: In 1962, Pat married Richard Hung-Hsiung Chiu in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The marriage lasted for thirty years, much of it spent in Northern Virginia. After bearing ten children, Pat earned a BS in Anthropology at the University of Utah in 1988. Seven of Pat's children were acknowledged by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. In 2000, Pat relocated permanently to Provo, Utah, where she devoted her time to art, temple service, and her family. Her favorite hobby was carpentry; she was a pretty good cook, but never managed a decent loaf of wheat bread. She served as president of the Utah Association of Artists, and was a two-star member of the Utah Watercolor Society. Pat was an inveterate storyteller.
