Cole Kennedy was born on Christmas Day, 1990, and was killed July 14 in an ice avalanche while climbing Pirámide de Garcilaso in the Cordillera Blanca mountain range in the Peruvian Andes. Cole was an Eagle Scout and a Rock Canyon High School graduate with high academic honors in 2009. He graduated from Colorado College in 2013 with a B.A. in Physics. Cole approached rock, ice, and snow with infectious excitement, and was a skilled and accomplished skier and climber. He will be remembered for his quick wit, intellect, and for encouraging everyone to try harder and give their best. A casual, outdoors, Cole-like celebration for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 30 , at 11 a.m. at the Sanctuary, 7579 Daniels Park Road in Sedalia. Contributions may be made to the Cole Kennedy Memorial Fund through the American Alpine Club at www.americanalpineclub.org. "The heart that perishes full to bursting is never really lost. No cold can cool the warmth of a life well lived in the pursuit of dreams."
