Anchorage Daily News December 28, 2004

Anchorage resident, Edmond S. Block, 80, died Dec. 20, 2004, at the Anchorage Pioneers' Home. A service was held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Officiating was the Rev. Scott Medlock.

Mr. Block was born Oct. 24, 1924, in Buyck, Minn. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942 to 1946 and came to Anchorage in 1949. He retired from Providence hospital in 1990 after working there since 1971. Family wrote: "Ed loved making things. He especially enjoyed making wooden toys for his grandchildren and spending time at home with his wife."

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Anchorage; daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Max of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Elbereth, Stacie, Liam, and Ethan of Portland. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kiahley. Arrangements were made by Anchorage Funeral Home and Crematory.
