Constancia "Connie" Abad celebrated her 84th birthday on December 6th. She was a vibrant woman who enjoyed gardening, watching her shows, and taking care of everyone, especially, her 4 grandchildren -- Alexander, Gavin, Atley, and Colin X. She was one of 7 siblings, raised in the Philippines, and was a dancer in her youth. Before she retired, she was a credentialed educator, teaching physics, high school math, electronics, and computer aided design & drafting, as well as an architectural engineer that expanded into a wide variety technical fields. Later, she taught engineering combining both careers into one.
She met and married Santiago in college and they traveled often, coming to the United States in 1971. They had a family which grew much bigger than their children -- Carla & Raul, Jordan, Cheryl, Mike, and Mireya -- with cousins, compares, nephews, nieces, in-laws, friends of their children and grandchildren and their families. She served as the family's center, welcoming all with open arms.
Constancia has gone in grace to meet God and left this world peacefully on December 15, 2019. May she rest in peace.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 PM, Thursday, December 26, 2019 with a Vigil Service at 6:30 PM, Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 10:30 AM, St Anne's Catholic Church, 32223 Cabello Street, Union City.
Constancia will be laid to rest at a later date. You will be able to visit her at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery after interment.
