Memorial write up:

Welcome, Fla., July 12, 1920 - Sincere sorrow was caused throughout this community on the morning of June 9, about 11 o'clock, when the death angel came and removed from our midst, Mrs. Lurana Allen, wife of one of our most highly esteemed pioneer citizens.

This estimable lady was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E B Lealman. She was born April 14, 1857, in Suwannee County, died June 9, 1930 making her 63 years of age. She was married to J Proctor Allen, July 18, 1878, at Lealman Station. They moved to Welcome January 2, 1880. She and E B Lealman, Jr., of Lealman Station, were the only two surviving children of a family of ten. In 1914 she became a member of the Welcome Baptist Church. She has been a true wife, a true mother and a devoted Christian. She has done what she could, therefore she is not dead, but sleepeth. Mrs. Allen has been almost an invalid for years, but was a patient sufferer and when death came it was sudden - she only lived about an hour after she was taken ill.

Deceased leaves to mourn their irreparable loss a devoted husband and seven children - E B and Lealman Allen, of Welcome; Herbert Allen, of Tampa; Walter Allen of Edison Junction, Mrs. L H Harvey, Okeechobee; Mrs. B H Evers, Lillibridge; Mrs. G L Johnson, Keysville; also one brother, E B Lealman and many friends, won by her gentle and kind manner.

The death of such a kind and gentle mother is indeed sad, but our Father makes no mistakes and our Saviour said, "What I do now ye know not, but ye shall know hereafter." All things, death included, work together for good for them that love God. Jesus, standing at the grave of his friend, Lazarus, said, "I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me though he were dead yet shall be live, and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die."

"Tis a sad thought to say we will never see dear mother's face, or hear her sweet voice on earth again, but she still lives in the hearts of her loved ones, in the hearts of her brothers and sisters, in the church, in the hearts of her neighbors and friends, and her good work will follow her.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev J B Simmons and prayer offered by Rev W P Rivers in the Beulah Baptist Church. Text, "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord; from henceforth, yea, saith the Spirit, they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them." Songs rendered were "Over There," "Dear Mother," and "Nearer My God to Thee." She was laid to rest in the Beulah Cemetery in the presence of a host of sorrowing friends and relatives.

The floral offerings were beautiful.

Dear mother now from us has gone,
Unto her long eternal home,
Her smiling face we see no more,
Until we reach the shining shore.
