Carl “Lyle” Magnuson’s life abruptly ended on September 11, 2020 at United Hospital in St. Paul. His passing was mercifully quick and peaceful. Lyle was born on September 26, 1938 to parents Carl E. Magnuson and Gladys Anderson Magnuson. He grew up on the Spring Garden area family farm where he had fond memories; playing games and family sing-a-longs in the winter and roaming freely through a beautiful pasture with a creek running through it for swimming and fishing in the summer. Highlights also include extended family gatherings for all birthdays and holidays along with many motoring trips with immediate family.

Lyle is proceeded in death by both parents, brother James, sister-in-law Leona and brother-in-law Byron Bailey. Surviving are sister Annette Bailey; three nephews – Randyl, Russyl, Kendyl Magnuson; three nieces – Sheryl Pischke, Holli Hopkins, Heidi Etier-Amari and special family friend Bev Stedman.

Lyle attended District 49 for grade-school then on to CFHS where he graduated in 1956. Soon thereafter he enlisted in the US Army serving two active years duty and four in the Reserves. His formal education continued at Dunwoody Collage of Technical in Apple Valley, MN. Lyle’s adult life was spent between living in Cannon Falls and South St. Paul where he was a long-time union worker at the St. Paul Stockyards.

A private family memorial service will be held on September 26th (the day he would have turned 82) at Spring Garden Lutheran Church where Lyle has been a life-long member. His ashes will rest in peace with other family members in the Magnuson family cemetery plot. Lundberg Funeral Home is assisting the family.
