Evarestus must have had a hard name to keep straight, in his 49 years of life his first name has been listed about ten different ways.

Two examples of this are his two tours in the army. First in 1846 with the 3rd Reg't Missouri Inf he was listed as EVARICE and then again in the Civil War with the 64th Regiment Co. B, E.M.M. he went by VARICE.

A third example is found in the following items taken from Weekly Perryville Union as posted on the Rankin Family History Project site (http://home.att.net/~rfhp/index.html)Perryville, Missouri, Friday, 14 May 1875BIRTHS. -- A handsome little female stopped at the residence of Mr. Varece Reed, seven miles northeast of Perryville on Wednesday of last week. A little male called at the residence of Joseph B. Parres, nine miles northwest of Perryville a few days since. (Note: This was Lucy N. Reed)

Perryville, Missouri, Friday, 05 November 1875BUILDING. -- Mr. Varece Reed, residing on the Ste. Mary's road, six miles from Perryville, has commenced the erection of a substantial residence on his farm. The cellar and foundation are completed. It will be a frame house.
