George Penich, 70, of 1055 Dennis Ave., Monessen, died suddenly of a heart attack yesterday morning at 6:30 a.m. at his residence after shoveling snow.
Born in Yugoslavia, he had been a resident of Monessen since 1921.
He was a retired employee of the galvanized department of the Monessen Plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co.
He was a World War I veteran, having served with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of St. Anthony's R.C. Church, Croatian Club of Monessen, Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 194, Monessen and American Legion Thomas McKee Post 28 of Monessen.
Surviving are his widow, Mary; one son, John of Monessen; two grandchildren; a brother, Joseph, and a sister, Helen, both in Europe.
