Steven R. Tice, 64, of Pittsfield, IL went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 31, 2011 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Steven was born in Olney, IL on February 27, 1947, a son to John and Virginia Gill Tice, Sr. Steven and Frannie Shelton were married in a tropical setting at the Ice House Inn in Barry, IL on August 3, 2003.

Steven went to elementary and high school in Olney, IL and graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1969. He served his country through the National Guard. After graduation, he went to work for the State of Illinois, Department of Public Aid, as a Bureau Chief for Quality Control until 1998.

Steven moved to Pike County where he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He owned and operated several hunting lodges where he provided hunting programs through the Department of Natural Resources and alternate incomes for farmers. He managed and controlled in excess of several hundred thousand acres in West Central Illinois. He wrote several articles for hunting publications as a Senior Member of the Pope and Young Club. He also enjoyed carpentry work and did so personally and professionally. Steven and Frannie liked to travel inside the United States and abroad.

Steven was of the Christian faith, having been baptized at the age of 12, at the Elm Street Christian Church in Olney, IL.

Steven is survived by his mother, Virginia Tice, of Pittsfield, IL; wife, Frannie Shelton-Tice of Pittsfield, IL; son, Anthony C. Tice (wife, Karen) of Orlando, FL; daughter, Jennifer Anaya (husband, Ron) of Clarksville, TN; step-daughters, Molly Blakey (husband, Travis) of Murrayville, IL and Lindsey Applebee (husband, Alden) of Carterville, IL; grandchildren, Sarah, Matthias and Nehemiah Tice of Orlando, FL, Lilu Anaya of Clarksville, TN, Madelyn and Jack Albers and Lillian Blakey of Murrayville, IL and Atticus Applebee of Carterville, IL; brother, John Tice Jr. (wife, Sue) of New Canton, IL; nieces, Amy Ridgley (husband, Dave) of Vincennes, IN and Nikki Barnes (husband, Anthony) of Barry, IL; nephew, David Butler (wife, Alisa) of Oak Grove, KY; uncle, Kenneth Gill of Albion, IL. He was preceded in death by his father, John Tice, Sr.

A celebration of life service will be held for family members at his residence. Memorials are suggested to the Pike County Youth Hunter's Safety Course in care of Niebur Funeral Home, 530 West Adams St., Pittsfield, IL 62363.
