“With sentiments of the most sincere regret, we have announce the death of Samuel Castle, Esq. clerk of the crown for this county, coroner for Easington Ward, and a solicitor of the first respectability. He had complained, we understand, of illness for some days prior to his decease, but he followed his usual pursuits, and was on Friday last in excellent spirits. The following morning, however, a severe attack (of gout, apoplexy, it is supposed,) terminated his existence, at the age of 57, to the inexpressible grief of an amiable family, and a large circle of friends.” (Durham County Advertiser, 25 November 1815)
