Earned his Law degree in 1948, became a solicitor in the Legal Division, Department of National Health and Welfare, in Ottawa. He returned to Winnipeg in 1950 to become a Crown Attorney with the Attorney General. He returned to private practice in 1957 and in 1973 was appointed as Chief Justice of the Court of Queens Bench for Manitoba. He retired in 1985.
