"The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 15, No 19, p 75, Oct. 14, 1858.

In Pawcatuck, Ct., Oct. 3d, Miss Nancy Maxson, aged 40 years.

Sister Maxson was a great-granddaughter of Elder John Maxson, who was pastor of the Seventh-day Baptist Church in Newport, R. I., and died about the year 1774, and a daughter of the late much-loved Jonathan Maxson, of Westerly, R. I.

Our departed sister had been a member of the Seventh-day Baptist Church for more than twenty years, and had by her Christian deportment gained the esteem and fellowship of all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. It would be useless to say that the loss of such a member of the family circle, and such a member of the church of Christ must be severely felt.

She was naturally retiring but was seldom the subject of religious ecstacies, but she had an abiding faith in Christ upon whose merits alone she rested her hope of salvation. Her path was like that of the just, which shineth more and more to the perfect day.

Her death was peaceful, and we trust, was that of the righteous, and that her last end is like his.
