She was born on July 1, 1927 in Nemacolin, Pa., the daughter of the late George Prodan and Mary Sabol Prodan Horwath.
Frances was preceded in death by her first husband, John Zemba who died in 1965, and two brothers, George and Alex Prodan.
Frances worked as a cafeteria worker at Carmichaels High School and as a bank teller for the former Gallatin Bank.
She loved sewing, flower gardening, and time with her grandchildren.
Frances is survived by her husband, Alfred (Al) Helmick; two sons, John V. Zemba (Sondra) of Rices Landing, Pa. and Bruce A. Zemba (Jennifer) of Sandusky, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Donna Keske (Paul) of Ashland,Ohio; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard Prodan of Carmichaels, Pa., Robert Horwath (Pat) of San Angelo, TX, and Joe Horwath (Rose) of Streetsboro, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., 204 Dowlin Ave, Carmichaels, PA 15320 on Monday from 1 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m., the service time (7 p.m.).Interment in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Non Hodgskins Lymphoma Association.
