Joseph Akers. 50, of Galveston, died Sunday. February 14, at his residence following an extended illness.

Born May 4, 1942 in Floyd County. he was the son of the late Charlie and Minnie Rogers Akers. He was a disabled coal miner.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie Hamilton Akers; two sons, Hurley Dean Bryant and Joseph Dean Akers, both of Galveston; three brothers, Leonard Akers, Birble Akers, and Geagie Akers, all of Galveston; one sister, Lou Ellen Stanley of Price; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 18, at 11 am., at the Little Rachael Regular Baptist ChlD'Ch with the ministers of the Regular Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will be in the Sam Hall Fork Cemetery at Robinson Creek under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
