Gary Killian age 71 of Wellington passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Harry Stallings, retired Baptist minister and Rev. Joe Lee, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.

Pallbearers are Nate Ponder, Lachlan Bronson, Maddox Bronson, and Ryker Killian.

He was born December 14, 1948 in Wellington, to J.B. and Louise Young Killian. He married Mitzie Hartman May 22, 1970 at the Friendship Baptist Church in the Buck Creek community.

Gary graduated from Wellington High School in 1967 and received his BS degree from Texas Tech University in 1971. He returned home to farm and ranch.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and was active in the church’s prison ministry from its inception 25 years ago.

Gary was a past president of the WISD school board where he served for 11 years, served 33 years on the Soil and Water Conservation District Board and 30 years on the Salt Fork Conservation District Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary’s survivors include his wife Mitzie of the home; 3 daughters DeLanea Bronson and her husband Dr. Eric of Portsmouth, RI, Keli Ponder and her husband Joe of Wellington, and Mical Holland and her husband Brandon of Claude; a son Vance Killian and his wife Kelli of Wellington; 2 brothers Dr. Granvel Killian and his wife Vicki of Hollis and Mark Killian and his wife Phyllis of Wheeler; a sister Vicki Kunka and her husband Gary of Follett and 8 grandchildren Lachlan and Maddox Bronson, Dani and Nate Ponder, Lena and Gwen Holland, and Kylin and Ryker Killian.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Prison Ministry, 1106 15th St., Wellington, TX 79095.
