Beechworth, 1st January.
A shooting accident, occurred yesterday
evening, resulting in the death of Donald
Martin 17, whose parents reside here.
Deceased and Fred. Waldon, a lad of about
the same age, went out with pea-rfifes to
shoot rabbits in the neighborhood of the
Beecchworth racecourse. The boys wore
separated, by a short distance, when Martin
shot at a rabbit and misded. Young WaI-
don then picked his rifle off the ground
and it exploded. The bullet entered Mar-
tin's head, and he fell over an embank-
ment about 10ft. The lad was conveyed
to Ovens District Hospital, where he died
at 3 a.m. on New Year's Day. At a magis-
terial inquest held to-day a verdict of ac-
cidental death was returned.
Not certain he is buried here.
