Queen of Egypt from 175 to 115 BC. Cleopatra II Philometor Soteira was a Ptolemaic queen who ruled during the second century BC. She was born in 185 BC as the daughter of Ptolemy V Epiphanes and Cleopatra I Syra. Cleopatra II co-ruled Egypt with her brother-husband, Ptolemy VI Philometor. Their reign was marked by internal conflicts, and Cleopatra II later married her younger brother, Ptolemy VIII Physcon. Their relationship was troubled, and they divorced and remarried. They had three children together, including their eldest son, Ptolemy Memphites. After Ptolemy VIII's death, Cleopatra II ruled alongside her son as co-regent, but their reign was unstable, and Ptolemy Memphites was eventually overthrown by his younger brother, Ptolemy IX Soter II. Cleopatra II's death occurred around 116/115 BC, although the exact details remain uncertain.
