Audrey Sutter Glenn Stephens passed away January 25, 2018 in Austin, TX. She was born April 9, 1917 in Heyworth, IL, grew up on a farm as the youngest of 10 children. Her stories of her childhood usually included some adventure exploring the surrounding woods, playing in the creek, climbing trees, or rescuing a family of kittens. For a farm girl from central Illinois, she had quite an adventurous life. She eloped with her sweetheart, Lyle Glenn, to California where he was sent for flight training during WWII. Their marriage was sadly a short one as he was shot down over the Pacific Ocean. She returned to Illinois, and eventually went to Michigan State University to get a degree in business, and began working in Lansing, MI. While visiting her sister, and brother-in-law, Ruth & Hub Mack, in Venezuela, she met Richard “Steve” Stephens who was working for Gulf Oil there. They were married February of 1955. In 1960 they returned to the states, living in Houston, Tulsa, Orlando, and finally retiring to College Station, Texas in 1975. Steve passed away in 2004, and Audrey moved to Austin in 2006.
Audrey was always active in the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She has been a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood since 1975. She was a wonderful cook and hostess, and loved to cook for her grandchildren. Even after moving into Independent Living in 2006, she continued to make her own bread, and bring warm biscuits with jam to her friends.

Audrey is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Louisa (Beier) Sutter, and her 9 siblings, She is survived by her two daughters, Allison Daniel and Lisa Becker (Mike), her six grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 2 pm Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 3001 S College Ave. in Bryan, Texas. Friends are invited to stay afterwards for refreshments during a visitation reception in the Pecan Room at Callaway-Jones.
