Obituary of Marvin L MICKEY

We Celebrate the life fulfill journey of Marvin Louis Mickey. Marvin was born on December 24, 1952 in Cherokee County of Alto, Texas to Homer and Mary Mickey. Marvin received his education in Alto, Tx where he attended Booker T. Washington and Alto High School where he graduated Class of 1972. Marvin went on to Prairie View A&M University, there he earned his Bachelors of Science and graduated Magna Cumlaude.

Marvin was reared in a strong Christian family and baptized at an early age. He was a member of St Thomas Chapel AME Church.

Marvin met and married Veronica “Connie” his wife of 30 years, in this union two children were born. A son (deceased) and a daughter Marvinesha Mickey-Green. Marvin also has two children from previous loving relationships, Leshay Mickey and Brittany Mickey.

Marvin loved his wife so much that he decided to join her at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church; under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Reverend Edward Collins. At Sweet Home, Marvin taught the Adult Men Sunday School Class. He also worked with the group of young Men the KEOS (Keeping Each Other Strong); under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Reverend Edward Collins to the Present Pastor Gregory Collins until his illness. Marvin was a such faithful member; he truly loved his Sweet Home Family. Marvin spent his life being a good Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. Serving GOD and teaching others. Marvin was also an Educator for MANY years expanding the minds of his students. An what a great Educator Marvin was, Marvin made a great impact on everyone he met. Even though he was quiet and very mild mannered, you knew Marvin was in the room.

On June 30, 2020 the Lord beckon for his child to come home; he is preceded in death by his parents Homer Mickey Sr and Mary Ross Mickey. Shelia Mickey (Sister), Homer Lee Mickey Jr (Brother), and Brenda Mickey Gross(Sister).
