Benjamin Nicodemus, son of Nancy Wiggins and Jacob Nicodemus, was born December 27, 1853, near Colfax, Iowa, and departed this left at his home in Sac City, April 6, 1940, at the age of 86 years, 3 month, and 9 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Jane Budd February 11, 1875, to which union were born eight children (William, Edith, Grace, Lilla, Ernest, and Ethel), all of whom preceded him in death with the exception of Grace and Ernest. In 1885 he and his family moved to Kansas, where they remained for five years, after which they moved to Sac County, where he has resided ever since with the exception of one and one-half years which were spent in Minnesota.
On February 11 of this year he and his companion were privileged to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Mrs. Mary Nicodemus; two children, Mrs. Grace Jarvis and Ernest Nicodemus of Sac City; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Harter of Sac City and Mrs. Ella Gray of Colorado Springs, Co.; two brothers, Isaac Henry of Colfax and Anderson of Tulsa Ok; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren besides numerous friends.
