Smart, sensitive, lovable, strong, fast, agile and interactive. Max was special. when he saw me head for my bed every night, he would jump off the sofa and patiently wait for me on top of the bed. When I went to bed, I would pet him for a few minutes and turn off the light. He would then return to his favorite spot on top of the sofa. When morning came, he would return to my bed, wait until a few minutes before the alarm clock went off and wake me up. When I proceeded to go to the kitchen to make my coffee, he would sit by the back kitchen door and wait for me to let him out for about 15 minutes. If I took too long he would "verbally" remind me it was time to go out. Once out, he would explore, climb a favorite tree to view everything from a high spot, but never left the property. He would then come in, eat, drink, and return to the bedroom, reminding me he wanted some help placing him under the covers (aka Lump-In-Bed), where he stayed for hours until it was snack time. H almost always wanted to be where we were. He followed us, communicated with us, and reminded us when the food or water were low. He always seemed to sense what was going on and informed us when he was afraid of something. At 15 years of age, Max appeared like he would never slow down or age. We thought he would be with us for much longer. During the last two months, Max's health went down rapidly. He would eat and drink less and less and lost half his weight. We would change his foods, change drinking options, but to no avail. We took him to the Vet and we all agreed that Max enjoyed a good life and brought us lots and lots of love, but it was time for him to cross the Rainbow Bridge and rest. We said goodbye to Max with tears flowing down our cheeks. Max, may we meet again.
