Deacon Alvin (Al) E. Sanders, of Gary,IN passed away at the age of 63 on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016. Al was born on June 19, 1953 in Pine Bluff, AK to Jessie Blackmon and the late Henry Sanders Sr. He graduated from Cass Tech H.S. in Detroit, MI and Eastern Michigan University where he was a star running back and received a Degree in Political Science. Al was married to and survived by his wife Yvette McKinley Sanders for 29 years and together have two children, Cherie and Whitney. He is also survived by his Mother Jessie Cardwell and siblings in Detroit, MI. Throughout his career and life, Al dedicated himself to service. He prided himself on his strong work-ethic, his love and commitment to family, friends and church. All services will be held at Freeman Temple C.O.G.I.C located at 715 East 45th Avenue Gary, IN; Friday (visitation), Oct. 21, 2016 from 1:00- 8:00pm. Saturday (funeral) October 22, 2016 from 10:00am-Noon;Burial at Evergreen Memorial Park. Al will be greatly missed. Funeral Service entrusted to Manuel Memorial Funeral Home.
