Daily Intelligencer reported Aug 10, 1880 that Prof August Kryer was invited to go to Chicago with the Cadet Band of Columbus, Ohio.
He was formerly a member of Kramer's Band and also directed Mayer's brass and string band.
He played the double bass.

Wheeling Register listed August's death and funeral, but spelled it two different ways in newspaper Kryer and Kreyer.
