Mrs Severt Exe, well known resident of this community, died early Monday morning in Butte, Montana, in a hospital where she had been taken a week before, suffering from a broken hip. Mrs. Exe was visiting her daughter, Mrs. Frank Gould, and fell into the basement of her home, breaking her right hip.

She had left Hayfield last November, going first to Tucson, AZ, to visit at the home of her son, Martin; later going to Hollywood, CA to visit son Thomas. She then continued to Butte, where she arrived on May 15th, 1937, for a visit with her dtr. and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gould.

She was born on the first of August, 1860, in Vernon Twp, and grew to womanhood in that community.

She was married to Erick Knutson Loken, who died 8th July 1896.

Five sons and one dtr. were born to them - Delia, (Mrs. J. O. Davis) of Minneapolis; Carl, Alfred and Sevren, all of Minneapolis; Louis of Byron, MN; and Elmer of Vernon twshp.

She was wed to Severt Exe on 16 October 1897, and he, along with 3 sons and 2 daughters, survive her. Sons are: Martin, of Tucson, AZ; Bennie of Mpls; and Thomas, formerly of Hollywood, CA. The dtrs are: Ella, Mrs Frank Gould, of Butte, MT and Tilda, Mrs. Louis Carlson, of Mpls., MN. There are 33 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Carl, Elmer and Louis Loken drove to Butte on receipt of word of their mother's accident, leaving here May 26th. They returned yesterday. The body of Mrs. Exe arrived yesterday by train, accompanied by Mrs. Gould.

Funeral services will be held Friday at the Elmer Loken farm home at 1 o'clock, and at the West Saint Olaf church at 2 o'clock.

Mrs. Exe was beloved and respected by all with whom she came in contact, and will be sincerely mourned in the community in which she made her home for so many years.

Mrs. Gueine Exe, Butte, died early yesterday morning in a local hospital following a brief illness. The body is at White's Funeral Home, and this (Monday) evening will be shipped to her old home in Hayfield, MN, where services will be held and interment made. Mrs. Frank Gould jr., her daughter, will accompany the remains.
