The son of William and Mary Starry Goody, he was first married to Loretta Mitchell. They had one son, Robert H. Goody.

Robert J. Goody, 89, formerly of 720 E. Bloomington St., died at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City Monday morning after a short illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Donohue Lensing Mortuary, with the Rev. Charles Downing of the First Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Goody was born Feb 17 1894, in Johnson County. He had operated Bob's Auto Shop and Goody's Auto Parts for many years prior to his retirement.
Survivors include one son, Robert H. of Iowa City; one daughter, Donna Hinke of Escondido, CA; four grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Crossett of Iowa City; and one brother, Ralph of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
