Tomasin was a daughter of Henry Day, one of the earliest settlers in nearby Greene County, Illinois. She married Greenup Duncan 29 December 1828 in Greene County. He survived her and married Laura Jane Hess 9 July 1871. He is buried in Bowers Cemetery in Scott County, IL, with his second wife. Both his mother, Lucy Browning Duncan and his first mother-in-law, Hannah (Graham) Day, are also buried in that cemetery.

Tomasin and Greenup were the parents of Nancy, who married Major Spencer, and William H. Duncan, who married Isabel Lemon.
