Daughter of James and Maria/Mariah (Simmons or Mitchell) Blaney. Alice was the mother of James R Blaney and stepmother of John, Nannie and Katie Harris. She married coal miner William H. Harris on 4 Nov 1897 and he died of tuberculosis on 5 August 1898. Alice always used her maiden name.

The 1910 Federal Census indicates she had one boarder and her two brothers, Eugene and John Henry, living in her house in addition to her children. The 1920 Federal Census indicates she had five boarders living in here house in addition to her children. And by the 1930 Federal Census, 63-year old Alice had six boarders and a grandson living in her home.
She succumbed to heart disease from which she had suffered for several years.
