Max was a skilled machinist and spent many years as a real estate investor. He was a loving father, having made a lot of sacrifices for his children, they were undoubtedly his pride and joy.
Surviving are his sister, Louise Metcalf of Burnsville; children: Kathy M. Courtney and husband Robert of Marshall, Lisa M. Robinson and husband Danny of Marion, John Max Metcalf of Marion and Thomas Carl Metcalf of Asheville. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 22 great–grandchildren and 1 great–great grandson.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 12th in the cemetery of Cane River Baptist Church. Reverend Don Ryhne will officiate. Memorials may be made to either Cane River Baptist Church, the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude’s Hospital.
