Joanne graduated from Northern High School in 1965. Soon after graduation she was employed by General Motors Auto industry where she worked for thirty years from which she retired never owning her own car.
Joanne loved her family and loved cooking. Often her cooking would lead to some of the best Sunday dinners in the world, and anyone in the area always had an open invitation to stop by.
Joanne and the late Nathan Burton were the proud parents of two daughters, Toni LaVett aka “Pete” and Stacy Burton aka “Stink”(deceased). Nathan fathered eight additional daughters and one son who all had relationship with Joanne. Joanne was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Joanne has maintained a loving relationship with very special friends in her life. Ruth, Helen, Dorothy, Vera, and Linda. During Joanne’s illness she also has the support of her cousins Tiney, Nikki and Penn.
Joanne leaves to treasure her memory: her daughter, Toni; brother, George (Deborah); sister-in-law Brenda; uncle Ernest Sanford, Sr.; aunt Essie Bell; grandsons, Antonio, Darren, Edward, Pace, Charles; grandsons fathers, Alonzo “Lonnie”, Edward Pace; eight great-grand children, Aaliyah Lynette(deceased); three nieces Brigette, Glynis, Latasha; eight nephews, Rodney, Mike, Terrance, Darryl, Sean, Kennis, Marquis (Diane), Carlos (Arleen), and a host of family members and friends.
