Born in Kilbourne Township, Mason County, to Richard Merrick Goben and Nancy Ellen Williams Goben, she married Glen Hughes. He preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

She served as a Democratic precinct committeewoman in Kilbourne Township and was a former Democratic chairwoman in Mason County for many years.

She was a member of the Easton Women's Club and the Commanders Club of the Disabled American Veterans.

She was a member of Kilbourne Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Kilbourne Cemetery.
