Arthur (Bill) A Grossnickle, 89, of Parish died on Thursday at Seneca Hill Manor in Oswego of Covid-19.
Bill was born July 11, 1931 in Emmetsburg, Iowa the youngest child of Edward and Stella Hill Grossnickle and grew up in Minn. He went into the Army at age 19 and went to Fort Knox for Basic Training. He served two terms in the Army, one in Korea and one in Greenland. He earned several medals while in the service, including Army Good Conduct, Korean Service, National Defense Service and United Nations Service.
Bill was the beloved husband of Anna Spencer
grossnickle, married 43 years. He is survived by Anna, sons Terry (Mary) Hall of East Syracuse, Lee (Debbie Abert) Hall of NC, Reggie Hall of Parish, NY, daughter Melodie (Mike Fabrizzi) Hall of Pa; sons Billy and Dwight Grossnickle of Ark, Gary Grossnickle of Ma and daughters Kathy Sanderson of Ma and Shawn Delany of Tn. Bill is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, some of which he helped raise.
Bill worked at Aireo Welding Supply in Watertown after the Army. He retired from General Electric in Syracuse in 1994 and served as Union steward. After retirement for several years he worked at the Cicero Auto Auction and Walmart in Cicero. He was a member of the American Legion. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, country music, 4-wheeling, dancing, reading and spending time at camp on Tug Hill. Bill was a kind, funny generous man who was always willing to help anyone in need. He was an honest loving soul who will be dearly missed.
