Mr. Grossnickle was born in Albert Lea, Minn. He married Zetta Jenne on Sept. 15, 1935, in Hubbard, Minn. They farmed near Hubbard and he served in the Minnesota National Guard. In 1946, they moved to Brainerd, Minn., where he worked for Northern Pacific Railroad. In 1955, they moved to Dilworth and he worked as a car man for Northern Pacific Railroad which was eventually renamed Burlington Northern Railroad. He also was a member of the Dilworth Volunteer Fire Department. In 1978, they retired to Park Rapids.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Frances Holmes, Apple Valley, Minn., Bonnie (Roger) Dunn, Reno, Nev., Maxine (Tom) Lenertz, Menahga, Minn.; a brother, Arthur, Parrish, N.Y.; two sisters, Evelyn Johnson, North Ogden, Utah, Vivian Davis, Woodbury, Minn.; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
