He served 4 years in the United States Navy during World War II. After his discharge from the service, he worked briefly for Public Service and then worked for Automatic Switch Company for 36 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of the Electrical Workers, Local #3 in New York City for 55 years, a member of the Masons Lodge #289 of West Orange for 25 years, a member of the Lacy Elks #2518, American Legion #129 of Toms River, and a life member of the VFW Post #10185 of Toms River. Harold served as an usher and greeter at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Manahawkin where he was a member for 22 years.
Harold was predeceased by his dear wife, Audrey, and by 3 young sons, Dennis Warren, Glenn Harold, and Gary William. Surviving is his daughter-in-law, Joanne, a brother, Kenneth, from Toms River, a sister, Peggy Hanna, of California. Harold is also survived by two grandchildren, Jessica April and Gary Ryan from Sussex County and a great-granddaughter, Carlie, who he loved very dearly, his "adopted" daughter, Linda Benzing and husband, Bruce, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be private at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, N.J.
