William Yawger Pickell was a native of Whitehouse Station for many years. His parents were Adam Baltus Pickell (1856-1940) and Marilda Yawger Sharp (1857-1917). He worked as a railroad worker, farmhand and county worker. He married Martha E. "Mattie" Durling who died in May 1914. He married Jeanette Wanetta Horten in 1915, and they had 10 children.
