YANCEY, Alice, 82, of Goochland, Va., passed away peacefully on Monday, November 30, 2020. Alice was born on August 2, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of four daughters of Frances and Edmond Taylor. She was educated in Philadelphia's public school system and later attended college where she received her diploma and several certificates. On May 29, 1956, Alice married Levi Yancey Sr. Alice was a loving and dear wife and mother. She and her loving husband reared three children, Alicia Yancey, the late Levi Yancey Jr. and their youngest, Lamont Menoken. Alice worked in the field of electronics and later became a supervisor for Camden County Health Department in New Jersey, from which she retired. Alice was an active member of Shady Grove Baptist Church; she loved the Lord and her bright light shined for all to see. She was known for her winning personality, lovely smile, style and great food. She was indeed a very special lady. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Levi Sr.; her children, Alicia and Lamont; daughter-in-law, Sonia; grandchildren, Leana and Levi III; great-grandson, Gavriel; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, 2530 Dogtown Road, Goochland, Va., where a viewing will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Due to COVID-19, a limited graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Shady Grove Baptist Church, 3384 Oakland Church Road, Gum Spring, Va.
