Being a Mennonite (pacifist), Jacob and his brother Abraham were heavily fined during the Revolutionary War for refusal to participate in the conflict (PA Archives. DAR applicants on this line have been flagged, suspended).

Do not confuse Jacob Strickler, with his son Jacob B. Strickler, nor his wife Elizabeth Atlee with Elizabeth Stewart.

Jacob Strickler and his wife Elizabeth Atlee had eight children:
