Wesley A. McDonald was born July 29, 1830; and died June 15, at 11:00 p. m., aged 78 years, 10 months and 17 days. Mr. McDonald was born in Ohio and it was from this state that he enlisted in the Civil War of the '60's, in company A, 15th 0. V.I., serving for three years. He came to Atchison in the fall of 1871 where he worked at the tailor's trade, until the following spring, at which time the family arrived, and with them he came to Jackson county, settling on a farm west of Holton, where they resided until about 12 years ago .... he leaves a wife, one daughter, and four sons
.... the G. A. R. Post was out in a body and at the cemetery the deceased was lowered into the tomb beneath a covering of flowers ....
