Funeral services for Rickey James Gunther will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2020, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson. The family asks that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Following the service he will be laid to rest in Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests all in attendance to wear face masks.
Rickey was born in Crowley on September 7, 1964, the only child of Lawrence and Carol Gunther. He passed away peacefully at his home in Patterson at the age of 56 on Sunday, December 6, 2020, following a hard fought battle with cancer.
Those he leaves to cherish his memory include his daughter, Alexis Gunther; his former wife, Christina Ashley Dinger; aunts and uncles, Joseph J. Gunther and his wife Gloria, Jerry Myers and his wife Ruby, and Mary Gunther Menard and her husband Charles; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence L. Gunther and Carol Myers Gunther; his paternal grandparents, Amel Gunther and Agnes Gaspard Gunther; maternal grandparents, Dewey Myers and Lillie Mae Simar Myers; and his cousin, Michael J. Gunther.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Bailey, Roland Bailey, Henry Bailey, Clay Austin, Joshua Dinger, and Curtis Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Myers and Joseph Gunther.
