Preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, William Charles and Gregory Welch; 4 nephews and 1 niece. She made her transition Monday, September 21, 2009. She leaves to cherish her memories, husband, James Abernathy; 5 sisters, Magdalene (Bishop Robert) Hurt, Vera Flournoy, Retha Ware, Ernestine Murray, Bettye Embry; 2 brothers, Johnnie Welch, Jr and James (Rose) Welch; 3 stepchildren; 3 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law and a host of relatives and friends. All services Saturday, September 26, 2009. Visitation, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral, 11:00 a.m. at Love Feast C.O.G.I.C., 2456 Chase St., Gary, IN. Pastor D. Hurt officiating.
