Ada S. Karnes, 97 of Roanoke, entered safe in the arms of Jesus Monday, December 21, 2020. She was the 7th of 9 children born to the late Eva Maude and Constance Sutphin and was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Carl B. Sutphin, Roscoe Sutphin, Alice Hall, Jimeson Atkins, Hazel Robertson, Thelma Howard, Ruth Christie and Patricia Cregger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Robert Karnes.
Ada retired from Penney's after 23 years of service in the wharehouse. She was a long time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Ada is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Richard M. Weeks, two grandchildren, Lisa W. Weddle and husband Roger, and Lori W. Lattner and husband David; seven great grandchildren, Sarah W. Addair and husband Matthew, Will Lattner and wife Elena, Joshua Weddle and fiance Sarah Green, Ben Lattner and wife Jackie, Seth Lattner, Kate Lattner and Levi Weddle; and one great great grandchild, Isaac Chase Johnson.
A graveside service will be held 10 AM Thursday, December 24, 2020, in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be made at www.oakeys.com.
