Obituary - ALL IS ENDED - And the Beginning of a Life Eternal Entered On. - AT 9:40 o'clock Sunday morning the spirit of Mrs. Mary W. Winner took its flight from the home near Lexington from the effects of a complication of diseases. For three months she had borne the pains of disease with uncomplaining christian fortitude. Slowly but surely her life ebbed away, despite the kind hands and medical skill to administer to her wants, until she silently went to eternal sleep as a dreamer lies down for peaceful dreams. Her life was a life of good deeds, and her works will follow her to her reward, that reward which is promised to the christian, which awaited her in Heaven.
Mary W. Winner was born near Morgantown, W. Va., Nov. 18, 1828. At the age of 18 she was converted and became a member of the M. E. church and remained a steadfast member and a devoted christian until the hour of death. In 1848 she was united in marriage to Shedrack F. Winner, who died 32 years ago at the age of 44. To this union there were born six children - Ida, who died in infancy in 1867; Eva, who died at the age of 15 in 1872: George A., of Pasadena, Cal., and Roger J., Charles E. and S. Clyde Winner, all of Alliance, who are left to sorrow over the loss of a dear mother, as well as a multitude of friends who knew her as their benefactor and a christian whose whole purpose of life was to do good.
