Solomon Bchman was born in Tennessee, October 14, 1836, and died at the house of his son, Carl, near Stahl, August 31, 1926, aged 89 years, 10 months and 15 days.
He came to Missouri about 1856 and settled near Stahl in Adair county. He enlisted in the Union army at Cape Girardean, March 5, 1862; was a private in Co. G. 2nd Reg. Militia Cavalry.
He was married to Angeline J. Capps, August 1, 1867, who died April 17, 1884. To this union was born seven children, one of whom died in infancy.
Those living are Jonathan and Carl, near Stahl, Henry and Andrew, near Green City, Clyde of Kirksville, and Mrs. Florence Young, of Gaines, Michigan.
He had 31 grandchildren and 14 great grand children.
He joined the Missionary Baptist church when a young man. He spent his last days almost constantly in prayer and always glad to have others pray for him.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ferguson, of Springfield, Mo. He was laid to rest in Morelock cemetery. A large crowd of neighbors and friends were present to pay their last respects to their neighbor and friend. The test used was 1 Cor. 15:55.
