James B. Camp, eldest son of the late Peter L. and Elizabeth Butler Camp, passed away yesterday morning at 1:25 o'clock at "The Home" in Girard, where he had been residing since some time. On Decoration day Mr. Camp sustained a paralytic stroke to the effects of which he succumbed at the above mentioned time.

He was born in Staunton on Dec. 10, 1856, on the old homestead near the southwestern edge of Staunton, and hence attained an age of 73 years, 5 months and 24 days. When about 30 years of age he went to Kansas, where in September, 1889, he was united in marriage to Miss Carrie Henning, the ceremony taking place at Corning, Kan. Of their union three children, all sons, were born. Mr. Camp followed the vocation of a farmer and about twelve years ago came back to Staunton, assisting on the home place until after the death of his mother about a year ago.

The remains were brought to the Huntman Chapel in our city and this afternoon at 1 o'clock will be taken to the Christian church, where they will lie in state until the service at 3 o'clock. Rev. Robert L. Ricks of Worden will officiate and interment will be in the Staunton City cemetery. Decedent united with the Christian church a number of years ago.

Mr. Camp is survived by three sons, Roy and Harry of Vona, Colo., and Edward of Topeka, Kans.; one brother, N. F. Camp of Staunton; one sister, Mrs. Fannie Eilert of San Francisco, Calif.; nine grandchildren and other more distant relatives and friends.
